Description: Bandipur is a charming, car-free hill town located on a ridge. It is celebrated for its well-preserved traditional Newar houses, cobbled streets, and stunning views of the Marsyangdi River valley and the Himalayas.
History & Significance
Bandipur was a major trading hub for the Newar people from the Kathmandu Valley. When the Prithvi Highway was built, bypassing the town, it fell into decline. This isolation, however, helped preserve its unique architecture and culture, which has since been revived for tourism, making it a living museum.
